Here at the Fashion Institute, we are provided with unique and exclusive opportunities to dive straight in and get our feet wet in the Fashion Industry, but this opportunity was a little different. Last week all students were given the opportunity to engage in a Q&A hosted by Edwina McCann editor and Chief of Vogue Australia and Victoria Baker, Vogue codes editor.
Vogue magazine is known internationally for being the ‘bible’ of fashion, a religious experience for all fashion lovers as it dictates taste from season to season. But Vogue codes is something entirely different. Hosted by Optus and Vogue Australia, Vogue Codes aims to engage young female digital innovators and entrepreneurs and inspire them by introducing them to the women who are making a major impact in the tech world. This project not only unites the fashion and tech worlds but also helps inspire young women to get involved in tech. They also aim to equip women with skills that can make their dreams a reality.
Vogue Codes will be inviting participants to the world of some of the major female innovators and businesswomen including Kinjil Mathur, CMO of Squarespace, Pip Marlow, CEO of salesforce ANZ & ASEAN and many more successful women. Vogue Codes presents young innovators with the incredible opportunity to both network and hear from these women about their career defining moments and learn career changing advice.
The key aspects of the 2021 Vogue code – Future innovators event includes the young innovators competition. Vogue is encouraging all young female innovators, looking to make a difference in the tech world to present their ideas to the vogue code panels. Every innovator is encouraged to send in a one-minute video pitch that explains their idea, what makes it special and how it would impact the world. Winning applicants receive a $10,000 prize to help them kick start their innovation.
Although I am not looking to start a career in tech and will not be entering the competition this is one of the many opportunities advertised by the fashion institute which I would not have known about without them. Vogue codes is the perfect way for students to bring passions together an intergrade fashion with innovation and tech.
