TFI x GP Campaign: The TFI Experience So Far

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

Words by Ebony Eathorne

I was lucky enough to sit down with Tamara and Amanda, and chat about their overall experience at TFI and within the Fashion Industry so far. It’s pretty safe to say that across the board, it has been a bit of a life changing experience so far, but let's hear what they had to say for themselves…

Tamara:

It was great to collaborate with other TFI students on such a fun shoot.

I’ve always loved fashion and style and being surrounded by this industry makes me feel so inspired.

Amanda:

It was so much fun! I loved being so involved on the shoot and being able to collaborate with so many creative people to create the campaign.

Tamara:

TFI has been everything I thought it would be and more. It’s only been half a year and I’ve already had some exciting experiences such as working on AAFW.

Amanda:

I’ve always had a passion for fashion, and COVID was a blessing in disguise in being that push I needed to pursue an education and career in the industry. I have never seen myself working a 9-5 office job, and I have always felt I have too much creative potential not to do something with it.

TFI has been amazing, my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner! It has opened so many doors for me and given me so many priceless opportunities. It was amazing and electric to be a volunteer at AAFW, as well as gain work experience at big brands such as Camilla, Manning Cartell and more.

Tamara:

My first internship was with stylist Fleur Egan which I have now turned into a permanent role as her assistant. I get to come along and help her out on all her amazing shoots and projects.

Amanda:

I am currently interning at Nookie as their HQ assistant, and have been lucky enough to land a paid role there! It’s been an awesome experience learning about how a successful ecommerce brand operates and being involved in the growth of these brands.

Tamara:

The trainers and staff at TFI are so supportive and skilled at what they do.

Amanda:

The trainers and staff are all so friendly and knowledgeable; being within their areas of the industry for as long as they have they have a plethora of wisdom to share and are super helpful in giving direction to guide our own journey in the industry. They genuinely want to see us succeed and they go the extra mile to help us achieve that success.

Tamara:

I hope to be more involved in the fashion industry and have made progress in my career by this time next year.

Amanda:

I see myself working my way up within the industry to gain the experience and knowledge I need to eventually start my own brand!

Tamara:

The fashion industry has so many pathways and avenues you can take, so even if one doesn’t turn out as expected, there’s always another opportunity.

Amanda:

Do it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by following your passions, so take that chance and see where studying fashion takes you.
